Cuyahoga County, Ohio: The Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Domestic Relations Division will have a new Administrative Judge next year, although this Judge has years of experience serving in the role.
Judge Diane M. Palos, having previously served as Administrative Judge from 2010 to 2015, was recently nominated and approved for a two-year term, commencing January 1, 2024. Judge Palos was elected to the Domestic Relations Court in 2010, having previously been appointed to the position on April 6, 2009 to fill an unexpired term. Prior to serving as a Judge, she was a Domestic Relations Court Magistrate from December 1986 until her appointment to the bench.
Judge Palos is the Co-Chair of the Ohio Judicial Conference Domestic Relations Law & Procedure Committee and is a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio Advisory Committee on Children and Families. She also is a Board Member of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges. She has previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Judicial College, and the Supreme Court of Ohio Case Management Committee and the Commission on the Rules of Superintendence. Judge Palos is a contributor to and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Domestic Relations Journal of Ohio. She is the author of Chapter 19, Child Support, in Sowald Morganstern Domestic Relations Law and is an ASTAR (Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource) Fellow.
When asked about assuming the Administrative Judge duties, Judge Palos said, “I look forward to serving again in this capacity and building on the successes of the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court.”
Palos continued, “The Domestic Relations Court provides exceptional services to self-represented litigants, through our Navigation Services Center, Domestic Violence Department, and mobile app CourtConnect. We’ve also developed effective programming for families through our Families First Program and Parenting After Violence (PAVE) Program.”
“Over the next two years, I’ll work with my colleagues to further enhance the services this Court offers, including new technology services through our Virtual Help Center and expanding the opportunities to resolve cases using alternatives to litigation,” Judge Palos concluded.
