The Court is pleased to announce that Magistrate Serpil Ergun has been appointed as Vice-Chair of the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Task Force on Improving Court Operations Using Remote Technology.  The Task Force is charged with reviewing the use of technology in Ohio courts to ensure the continued and effective operation of the judicial system during the COVID-19 pandemic and making recommendations regarding the use of such technology in the future.

With an eye toward access to justice and efficiency, the group will study how courts have used technology surveying judges, attorneys, and court professionals for their experiences, and will identify the barriers and challenges to using technology, rules that need to be modernized, and best practices for courts going forward.  A key focus will be on the best way to conduct civil and criminal trials remotely.

The task force’s report to the Chief Justice and the Justices of the Court is due June 2021.  For more information, visit https://www.sconet.state.oh.us/Boards/iCourt/default.asp
