Domestic Relations Updates
Domestic Relations Court will be closed on Thursday, November 26th & Friday, November 27th in observance of Thanksgiving. The Court will open normally again on Monday, November 30th.

NOTICE: Local Rule 35 (Guardian ad litem) has been modified e
ffective 12/01/2015. Under the modified rule, guardians ad litem will be compensated at the rate of $150.00 per hour, and the cash bond will be no less than $1,500.00.

This only applies after there is already a parenting order.
Effective July 15, 2015, all copies purchased from the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts' Offices will be 5 cents per page. Certified copies will be an additional $1.00.

The Ohio Supreme Court recently
released the Task Force on Access to Justice Report. Judge Rosemary Grdina Gold and Judge Diane M. Palos were Task Force members.

Local Rule 27 is modified commencing April 1, 2015. The change is of a technical nature as to the filing of transcripts for Objections and conforms to existing statutory authority.

In addition to this change, commencing April 1, 2015, the Judges of the Domestic Relations Court have increased the cost per page for transcripts as follows:
$4.50 per page for transcripts ordered by a party or an attorney;
$5.50 per page for expedited transcripts; and
$6.50 per page for overnight transcripts.
Local Rule 37 is modified commencing April 1, 2015. The change is of a technical nature to incorporate Civil Rule 65.1 into the existing Local Rule.

The Clerk is requesting that attorneys and parties use the Personal Identifier Form to redact sensitive identifying data in a pleading or other filed document. The procedure is outlined in the Rule of Superintendence 45 (D). See the Clerk of Courts website at
Education Network for Divorcing Families (Beech Brook) is the preferred Court approved parenting education course for the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court. For Spanish-speaking parents and those living out of state only, an alternate parenting education course is available. Information pertaining to these parent education programs can be found on the Court's website under
Parenting Services, Parenting Education
. Attendance at any other parent education course (whether in person or on-line) is permitted only at the discretion of and with the approval of the assigned judge. Approval must be sought by a motion filed with the Clerk of Court explaining the reasons for the request. Failure to obtain prior approval may result in an order requiring the parent to attend a Court approved course before a judgment of divorce, dissolution or legal separation is entered.
To comply with Federal Law which prohibits information on Domestic Violence cases being posted on the internet, all information on Domestic Violence cases is being removed from the Clerk of Court public website.
